Lorren Snowwolf

Deputy Director & Board Member

Lorren Snowwolf has been part of the Mainspring team since 2023, helping guide organizational operations, strategic planning, community partnerships, grant development, and program growth. He oversees Re-Thread Clothing Services and Thread & Theory, Mainspring’s social enterprise retail program, while also leading digital communications, website development, community engagement, and initiatives that strengthen Mainspring’s ability to serve the community.

Before joining Mainspring, Lorren worked in the legal field with experience in landlord-tenant, criminal, class action, and tort law. He also spent more than eight years in management roles within the organic food industry, building expertise in operations, food safety compliance, supply chain logistics, product sourcing, and distribution systems. This experience provided him with a strong understanding of food systems and the complex logistics required to move resources from suppliers to the communities that depend on them.

Lorren’s background in law and cultural anthropology has given him a unique understanding of both the systems that affect people's lives and the communities they serve. This perspective guides his approach to leadership, stakeholder engagement, partnership development, and creating practical solutions that strengthen programs and expand opportunities for those Mainspring serves.

Raised in Colorado and a longtime Oregon resident, Lorren draws from Indigenous, Spanish, and Irish heritage that helped shape his values of compassion, resilience, service, and community. Growing up among diverse cultural traditions taught him the importance of adaptability, relationship-building, and meeting people where they are. These experiences continue to influence his leadership style and his commitment to creating welcoming spaces where everyone is treated with dignity and respect.

Lorren believes food is about much more than nourishment. Throughout history, food has brought families together, strengthened communities, preserved cultural traditions, fueled economies, and inspired social change. Some of life's most meaningful conversations, celebrations, and decisions happen around a shared meal. Through his work, Lorren sees food as a powerful way to build connections, foster belonging, and create opportunities for people to support one another.

Known for his collaborative leadership style and ability to bring people together, Lorren works closely with volunteers, donors, community partners, local businesses, and stakeholders to expand resources and opportunities throughout the Portland region. He currently serves on Mainspring’s Board of Directors and is committed to advancing the organization’s mission through collaboration, innovation, and compassion.

Outside of Mainspring, Lorren enjoys gardening, creating art, exploring Oregon’s natural landscapes, and spending time with his husband and their dog, Gracie.
