Volunteer Departments

Food Department Pantry support, food sorting, stocking, and food flow. Examples: sorting donations, stocking shelves, packing pantry items, helping prep for mobile pantry, weighing food, and supporting pantry flow during service. Distribution Department Mobile pantry, donation delivery, pickup, and outreach support. Examples: driving donation pickups, delivery support, loading/unloading, food rescue, mobile destination pantry setup, and neighborhood distribution support. Facility Maintenance Keeping the building organized, clean, safe, and ready for service. Examples: organizing storage areas, light cleaning, setup and breakdown, supply movement, small facility projects, and keeping volunteer areas ready. Clothing Distribution Re-Thread Clothing Pantry and Thread & Theory support. Examples: sorting clothing, hanging items, shopper flow, Re-Thread support, Thread & Theory merchandising, boutique-style displays, and special clothing projects.

Rocky Butte Farmers Market

Volunteers may help with setup, greeting neighbors, sharing Mainspring information, pantry outreach, and breakdown.

Fremont Fest Street Fair

Volunteer opportunities may include booth setup, greeting visitors, community outreach, fundraising support, and booth breakdown.

Neighborhood Outreach

Help distribute Little Free Library books with Mainspring bookmarks and share information about community resources.

This is a good option for volunteers interested in off-site outreach, walking routes, community connection, and light neighborhood engagement.
